U.S. law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison (“Paul Weiss”) has announced that acclaimed restructuring and bankruptcy lawyer James Sprayregen will join the firm, where he will co-lead its restructuring and debt capital solutions practice.

Sprayregen has more than 30 years of experience in restructuring and bankruptcy law. In 1990, he founded Kirkland & Ellis' restructuring practice. After retiring Kirkland in 2024, he joined financial services firm Hilco Global as Vice Chairman of Global Strategy and Growth.

Sprayregen's arrival is part of Paul Weiss' recent efforts to recruit senior partners. The firm announced the hiring of five partners in June 2026 alone.
